An ideal venue for a wedding reception

The St Stephen’s Church Centre is located beneath the main church. It is a large room, which lends itself to a variety of uses from community events to private hirings (subject to certain conditions of use and safety procedures).

Dimensions of St Stephen’s Centre hall (usable space, without the small stage):

Length from wall to the beginning of the small stage 32’9”, approx. 9.99 m. Width 26’7”, approx. 8.2 m.
Ceiling clearance from the lights is 9’1″, approx. 2.76 m.

The entrance (map) to the Centre is on the Lansdown Road side of the church via a sloping path, making it easily accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

When hiring the Centre the use of the kitchen is included in the booking fee.

  • 4 toilets (2 men’s and 2 ladies’)
  • 1 disabled toilet with baby changing facilities
    (Used nappies must be taken away as we do not have a disposal unit for them)

The Foyer is the area at the rear of the main church; it has a servery area and one toilet.

Additional charges and notes

  1. The hire period must include a minimum of 30 minutes set up time and 30 minutes clear up time as well i.e. a 4 hour booking would mean one hour of set up and clear up plus three hours of function time.
  2. Public liability insurance cover (mandatory) – price will be advised on application.
  3. A deposit of 25% of the hire fee is required at the time of booking. This will be kept in the event of a cancellation less than 4 weeks from the event.
  4. A cheque for £100 to cover any damages and extra cleaning will be required on payment of the balance. This is refundable only once the premises have been inspected by church staff and are deemed to have met the terms as specified in the Terms and Conditions.
  5. Please note that the premises are NOT licensed for the sale of alcohol but it can be consumed by over 18s only at private functions.
